April 9, 2026 – Coloma Charter Township is notifying the public of a sanitary sewer overflow event that resulted in the discharge of approximately 6,400 gallons of diluted wastewater from a sanitary sewer manhole onto the ground and into a drainage creek.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Thursday April 9, 2026 a sanitary sewer overflow occurred at a manhole along the railroad tracks that run parallel to Red Arrow Hwy. The leak was isolated as of 3:00 p.m. on April 9, 2026. There is no perceived threat to public health and safety.
In accordance with state law, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (ELGE) Quality and the Berrien County Department of Public Health were notified of the overflow event.
